Diversity  Business Council and Employee Resource Groups

Make It Plain was asked to examine the opportunity to integrate and unify the efforts of employee resource groups (ERG) in multiple countries as the result of merger, acquisition as well as reduction of force activity.  The  assessment phase consisted of interviews with leaders of each ERG and management of the respective locations and business units.  Our recommendations included specific actions for the global diversity business council and each of the employee resource groups.  

Make It Plain facilitated the creation or refinement of all charters, transformation plans  and the creation of specific objectives, goals, metrics and action plans.   We also provided all of the education for the Council and ERGs to help them perform better as virtual teams, build overall trust and enhance cross-cultural communications.  

The result was a set of high-impact strategies that increased ERG value to the company and employee productivity while driving out operational redundancies and cost.

    HR Inclusion Department Development and Strategic Planning

    KM / Service Systems Associates – KM/SSA is one of the nation’s largest visitor services for cultural attritions such as zoos, aquariums and theme parks.  Services include retail, concessions, catering, rides and janitorial. 

    Make It Plain was asked to create and develop the company’s Department of Diversity, Inclusion and Employee Engagement.  The project consisted of an assessment of the company’s industry footprint and position, creating and selecting members of the corporate diversity committee and developing the department’s strategy, framework, goals, objectives and operational guidelines.  The result of our work enabled the company to successfully design and launch the department as a resource and tool for business development, employee engagement and competitive advantage in the marketplace.

          Mason City School District Diversity Council Framework & Strategy - The Mason City School District is one of Ohio's most elite public school districts. It consistently ranks in Ohio's Academic Top 10 - placing 5th out of 613 Ohio school districts this year. 

          Make It Plain was asked to develop a district-wide Diversity Council Framework to be implemented in each of the district’s 12 school buildings.  An assessment of the district’s performance in the area of workplace diversity & inclusion was deployed.  The assessment included a statistical workforce analysis, a review of existing programs and extensive interviews of the district’s superintendent, assistant superintendent of curriculum and a member of the district’s board of directors.  Working with district’s building principals and a select group of teachers and staff, Make It Plain developed a comprehensive Diversity Council Operational Framework and strategy that articulated long-range objectives, goals, strategies, metrics and action plans. The results of our work enabled the district to begin implementation of its diversity and inclusion strategy quickly and with clarity with respect to the actions that yielded the greatest impact for the district and the community it served.
